If you live near Arlington, VA and you haven't been to Green Pig Bistro, visiting ASAP is definitely a must. Located in Clarendon, this super cute restaurant is perfect for your brunch and dinner needs with the girls or a hot date. I happened to bring my hot date (Blair) and we had the best time!
For one, the restaurant itself makes you feel at home. When you add the staff, you have the perfect environment for ultimate hospitality. The lighting really sets the mood here & the décor shapes the way for this modern restaurant.
Here's what we ate:
So yes...we ate A LOT. LOL. But Green Pig has so many options that of course you want to try as many as possible! Here's what I thought:
The House Made Ginger Brew was by far the most refreshing ginger drink I've ever had. I take a ginger shot once a day for digestion and to keep my immune system strong. Even though I consistently take them, the shots are the furthest thing from tasty. This drink is the opposite. It brings the health benefits of ginger in a sensational and new way.
The Shrimp & Grits were my favorite part of the meal. The grits literally melt in your mouth and the shrimp was seasoned to perfection. Combined, your taste buds will literally be in food heaven. I'm not a big egg person but even the poached egg was so well prepared that I wanted more. Will definitely be getting this again.
My boyfriend ordered (and inhaled) the Fried Chicken & Waffles. I was a little nervous about this one at first for him because he doesn't like food touching. But even with it touching, saying he LOVED it would be an understatement. He couldn't stop talking about how good the sweet taste of the caramelized onions were mixed with the fried chicken. Anytime he's quiet when the food comes out I know something must be pretty good (LOL). The gravy was a perfect compliment because it was subtle, and enhanced the taste of the waffles and chicken. By far the best chicken & waffles he's ever had. Anytime my boyfriend says something is that good, I know it's a win.
Dessert is my favorite part of any meal, hands down. We tried the caramel apple tart, cinnamon rolls, and scones but by far my favorite was the caramel apple tart. Warm, sweet, and the perfect finish to brunch. I WAS SO FULL! Blair's favorite was the cinnamon rolls and if you try them you'll know why. The icing makes the treat.
Overall, I had the best time at Green Pig Bistro and will definitely be going back! I can't say a single bad thing about my experience which says a lot about the quality of the food, the staff, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Our server made it that much better by going above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every bite. If you're ever in town, I highly suggest trying Green Pig Bistro. You'll wonder why you haven't!
